SELF-ESTEEM

About Self-Esteem

If you have issues around your self-esteem then hypnotherapy may provide the answer you have been looking for. You may even be surprised (or amazed) at just how different you can really feel, often in a relatively short space of time.

Self-esteem is the centrepiece of a healthy personality. It is an emotional sine qua non: without a degree of self-esteem, life can be painful and unfulfilling. But what is it?

Self-esteem is something that is frequently talked about, but seldom properly understood.

Dictionary definitions

Esteem:  to value. to have regard for; value highly; respect; favourable opinion; high regard.

Self:  the identity, character or essential qualities of a person or thing; ones own  person.

Self-esteem can defined as the belief in oneself or self-respect.

Self esteem is the opinion you have of yourself. It is based on your attitude to the following:

  • Your value as a person
  • The job you do
  • Your achievements
  • How you think others see you
  • Your purpose in life
  • Your place in the world
  • Your potential for success
  • Your strengths and weaknesses
  • Your social status and how you relate to others
  • Your independence or ability to stand on your own feet.

Low Self-Esteem

Low self esteem results from you having a poor self image caused by your attitude to one or more of the above. Example: you do not value the job you do highly or you feel you have no purpose in your life. It is nearly always that 'inner you' causing you to doubt yourself in some way. Perhaps by worrying about your abilities or what people might think of you, or generally causing you to believe that you are worth less for some reason.

High Self Esteem

High self esteem is the opposite! It is a very important aspect of your life. If you have a high level you will be confident, happy and sure of yourself. You would be highly motivated and have the right attitude to succeed. Self esteem is therefore crucial to you and is a cornerstone of a positive attitude towards living.

As your self-esteem grows, this "real you" emerges. You begin to take more risks and not be afraid of failure; you aren't as concerned with getting approval of others; your relationships are much more rewarding; you pursue activities that bring you joy and satisfaction; and you will make a positive contribution to the world. Most importantly, high self esteem brings you peace of mind ... when you're alone, you truly appreciate the person you're with - yourself.

How can hypnotherapy help low self esteem?

You cannot change history and get new parents but through hypnosis you can do something about the current thoughts and images that keep you locked into low self-esteem. Through a series of regression sessions, your subconscious will take you back to those times when for example, you were called 'stupid' or told that you would 'never make anything of your life' . This will allow you to reprogram your beliefs and goals in a more productive useful way, thus increasing your self-confidence.

You will also be taken through a series of visualisation exercises to see the 'new you' and how good you appear and these images are then firmly planted in your mind. Hypnotherapy can help you overcome any future negative self talk by this improving of your self-image and preventing any negative input.

Hypnotherapy is a powerful teaching tool to rapidly enable a more, positive and self-respecting approach.
